Essay Stance Dataset

This page is a distribution site of essay data for the task of Essay Stance Prediction. Data available on this page include annotated stances for 826 essays from the International Corpus of Learner English (ICLE).

The problem of Essay Stance Prediction for which this dataset is intended is described in:

Essay Stance Dataset

Essay Stances Includes stances for 826 essays (one per line).

Negation Words Includes a list of negation words used in the experiments described in Modeling Stance Prediction in Student Essays.

Non-Negation Phrases Includes a list of non-negation phrases used in the experiments described in Modeling Stance Prediction in Student Essays.

Hedge Words Includes a list of hedge words used in the experiments described in Modeling Stance Prediction in Student Essays.

Note that we only own the annotations on the ICLE essay dataset. The essays themselves must be purchased here.
